Sweeney Receives ‘One World Award’ for Support of the Disabled
West Deptford, NJ –Senate President Steve Sweeney was presented with the ‘One World Award,’ honoring his support and commitment to the services and programs for those with developmental disabilities.
The award was made at the “2019 Bancroft Butterfly Ball,” held by one of the region’s leading providers of programs and services for individuals with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities and those in need of neurological rehabilitation.
“This is service that is close to my heart, which makes this award especially meaningful to me,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “It’s called the ‘One World Award’ because we need to see that everyone should be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve, including those with disabilities. As the father of an amazing young woman with a developmental disability, that principle has provided the motivation and inspiration for most of my public service.”
The Bancroft Organization’s One World Award recognizes an outstanding leader every year that has made a powerful impact on the world of individuals and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other neurological conditions. Bancroft provides for the health and well-being of those they serve through direct patient care and the coordination of medical, behavioral and clinical services.
“I want to express my gratitude to Bancroft for all its good work and extend my appreciation to everyone who supports Bancroft and all the other organizations and programs that help those with disabilities to live full and meaningful lives,” said Senator Sweeney. “They all provide hope to families whose wish for their loved one is to live life to its fullest.”
